"Wilo-Crono" for refrigeration and air-conditioning technology
High overall efficiency through optimised hydraulics
As with other industries, the energy consumption of components is increasingly a major design focus for refrigeration and air-conditioning systems. Because the reduction of energy consumption plays such a key role in long-term calculations of operating expenses, this is especially true for the pump technology used.
The “Wilo-Crono” series, which the pump specialists from Dortmund presented at the IKK 2006 in Nuremberg, sets the standards for glanded pumps. A precise setting between the impeller and the pump housing reduces flow loss. In other words, in addition to high balance, operational safety and the releasing of pressure on the bearing and mechanical seals, “Wilo-Crono” pumps offer the highest possible hydraulic efficiency.
Because of their design, the pumps of this series already reach peak values of overall efficiency using standardised EFF 2 motors. According to the manufacturer, with the optionally available EFF 1 motor it is possible to attain a markedly higher overall efficiency than with pumps from other manufacturers. In other words, an economic comparison reveals decisive total cost advantages.
A specially constructed pump valve, designed to systematically discharge condensation water and effectively avoid corrosion, is particularly advantageous for refrigeration and air-conditioning applications.
The electronically controlled individual pumps “Wilo-Cronoline IL‑E” and the double pumps “Wilo-Cronotwin DL-E” ensure additional energy savings. Both have an integrated frequency converter which ensures precise regulation. The pump intelligently adjusts its speed to the system's required flow, thus permitting energy savings of up to 50 % over uncontrolled pumps. Furthermore, these models can be attached to the building automation via a retrofit “IF Module” equipped with a communications interface.
