Dortmund. The pumping of potable water, industrial water, cooling water or rainwater from tanks, wells or cisterns is, besides the supply of potable or industrial water from public water suppliers, an increasing market issue for planners and installers. The Dortmund based pump expert WILO AG offers the new pump “Wilo-TWI 5” for an easy as possible installation of such water supply systems. It can be applied in the domestic sector, in the agriculture and in horticulture as well as for industrial purposes and it is also available completely pre-assembled in different versions.
 

The extensive product range for different requirements comprehends, among other things, two Plug & Pump variants. Delivery comes complete with all electric and hydraulic components that are required for immediate and problem-free commissioning of the system. The electrical connection is provided via a switchbox with an integrated On/Off switch, which also includes the main connecting cable with a shock-proof plug. The connection to the pump is established by means of a 20 metre long connection cable and is also pre-assembled. Delivery also includes a polypropylene carrying rope for the safe lowering of the pump into sumps or big tanks.

On the hydraulic side an electronically controlled flow and pressure monitor „Wilo-Fluidcontrol“ provides a safe and fault-free operation of the pump system with an integrated non-return valve and protection against low water level.

 

For the installer at site, he only needs to arrange the pipe connection between the pump and the pressure control and integrate the system into the existing water supply: therefore, the installation effort for the Plug & Pump versions should not exceed more than one or two working hours.

 

The TWI 5, which also is the core of the Plug & Pump installation, is a fully submersible, multistage motor pump, which is manufactured completely in stainless steel. Depending on the model it achieves a maximum delivery head of 87 metres or a flow of up to 16 m³/h. The maximum immersion depth is at 20 metres. At the same time the new pump can also be operated outside the water thus offering flexible application possibilities to the operator.

 

For applications in tanks with a plaint bottom the pump is equipped with stands, including four vibration dampers, which ensure safe installation on the ground. The aspiration of the water occurs through a suction filter that is fastened to a float. As a result, the suction area is in a floating position below the surface of the water, thereby ensuring that only clean water is recovered. Leaves or other impurities floating on the surface of the water cannot get into the pump circuit, nor can material be sucked up from the sediment lying on the bottom. 

 

The electric motor that drives the pump has the protection class IP 68 and is, therefore, designed for complete submersion. It is equipped with self-cooling and additionally has a thermal protection.
